Curiously, Frank Zappa had no direct connection to Lithuania or Vilnius during his lifetime. The monument was initiated by a group of local fans and intellectuals who viewed Zappa as a symbol of freedom, individuality, and resistance against Soviet-era conformity. The bust was sculpted by Konstantinas Bogdanas, who was previously famous for his monumental statues of Lenin, adding an ironic twist to the project.
