Best season
The best visiting season is spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October), when the weather is mild and animals are less stressed by heat. In summer, early morning hours help avoid the largest crowds.
Best time of day
Early morning hours (around 8-9 AM) are well-suited, as animals are more active after night rest and enclosures are still quiet. Late afternoon (3-5 PM) also sees many species become lively, with feeding times often observable.
Etiquette
Always stay on marked paths and do not climb over barriers - this ensures your safety and the animals' well-being. Feeding the animals is strictly prohibited, as unsuitable food can harm their health.
What to bring
Sturdy footwear is recommended, as the zoo paths can be partly unpaved or uneven, especially in the wooded area. Binoculars are useful for viewing animals in larger enclosures or on perches up close.
Getting there
The zoo is located on the outskirts of Nyíregyháza, about 2 km from the city center. It is accessible by car via the main road - a large parking lot is available - or by bus line 7 from the train station.
