Újfehértó is a town in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County, located between Nyíregyháza and Debrecen. Historically, it emerged as a market town in the 19th century, with its economy primarily based on agriculture and trade. The town is nationally famous for its sour cherry production, particularly the 'Újfehértói fürtös' variety, which is a protected geographical indication. The architectural heritage includes the Baroque Greek Catholic church and several 19th-century public buildings. Újfehértó also has a strong tradition of local craftsmanship and hosts various cultural festivals throughout the year. Its population of approximately 12,000 residents maintains an animated community life within the Northern Great Plain region.
