Brela is considered the epitome of Mediterranean beauty and is one of the most exclusive resorts on the Adriatic coast. Situated at the foot of the Biokovo massif, the town is characterized by its dense pine forests that reach down to the emerald green sea. Brela gained worldwide fame through Punta Rata beach, which regularly appears in international rankings of the most beautiful beaches. The iconic symbol is the 'Kamen Brela', a rock in the sea on which pine trees grow despite the harsh conditions. The settlement's history can be traced back to 950 AD, when it was mentioned by Byzantine Emperor Constantine Porphyrogenitus under the name Beroyllia. Today, Brela provides a great infrastructure for discerning tourists without having lost its original charm. A six-kilometer-long promenade connects the various bays, inviting visitors to take long walks while enjoying the fresh sea breeze and the scent of the pine trees.
The most pleasant time to visit is Jun–Aug.
