Gornja Brela is located in the Biokovo Nature Park and has a dramatic contrast to the beaches of coastal Brela. The village was an important hub of ancient trade routes connecting the hinterland with the sea. The architecture consists predominantly of old stone houses built closely against the mountain to provide protection from the Bura wind. The area is a paradise for hikers and mountaineers. The educational trail 'Putovima drevne Berulije' passes through the village, explaining the history and flora of the region. The 14th-century St. Nicholas church, perched on a hill above the valley, is particularly worth visiting. In local taverns (konobas), visitors can enjoy traditional peka dishes. From here, there is a spectacular view of the Dupci mountain pass and the Adriatic Sea.
