Trogir is widely regarded as the best-preserved Romanesque-Gothic complex in Central Europe. Founded by Greek colonists in the 3rd century BC as Tragurion, its historic core lies on a small island between the mainland and Čiovo Island. The city's crown jewel is the Cathedral of St. Lawrence (Sv. Lovre), featuring the famous portal by Master Radovan from 1240, a masterpiece of Croatian medieval sculpture. The city walls and the imposing Kamerlengo Fortress at the southwestern tip testify to the long period of Venetian rule. Walking through its narrow, stone-paved alleys feels like stepping back into the Renaissance, passing noble residences like the Cipiko Palace. Trogir has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1997 and remains a lively nautical destination with a palm-lined promenade where luxury yachts dock in the summer months.

The morning starts at the Land Gate, where wet limestone reflects the raindrops. A quick dash to the City Museum provides shelter and historical context. At noon, we find refuge in the Cipiko Palace and the Cathedral. The sound of rain on the ancient roof creates a solemn and intimate atmosphere inside. In the afternoon, we stay dry under the City Loggia and visit the Rector's Palace. The narrow alleys of the old town offer natural protection from the elements. The day ends at Kamerlengo Fortress. The misty Adriatic and grey skies give the stone walls a dramatic and powerful historical presence.
