Palmižana is the oldest and most famous resort on the Pakleni Islands, located right in front of Hvar town. Its heart is the estate of the Meneghello family, who began creating an impressive botanical garden with exotic plants from all over the world in 1906. Today, Palmižana is synonymous with high-end nature tourism, art galleries, and first-class gastronomy in a wild, romantic setting. Visitors mostly arrive by water taxi from Hvar or moor their own yachts at ACI Marina Palmižana. The southern bay of Vinogradišće provides a rare sandy beach and azure waters, surrounded by dense pine forests. Despite its popularity, Palmižana has retained a touch of Robinson Crusoe adventure, combined with modern comfort and aesthetic appeal.
The most pleasant time to visit is May–Jul.

Your day starts at the bustling Palmižana marina, the gateway to this idyllic archipelago. A short walk leads you into the Meneghello family's botanical garden, where art and exotic flora merge. At noon, the crystal-clear water of Vinogradišće Bay invites you for a swim and relaxation in exclusive beach clubs. In the afternoon, hike along shaded paths to the secluded chapel of Saint Clement, a place of profound silence. End your day at the picturesque Mlini Bay before taking the boat back to the buzz of Hvar. A perfect blend of natural beauty and Mediterranean lifestyle.
The day begins at the marina with the sound of rain on the masts. A walk to the botanical garden provides shelter under dense pines. At noon, we find refuge in Vinogradišće Bay, watching the rain smooth the sea. Afternoon brings us to St. Clement's Church for a quiet, dry retreat, before ending at Mlini Bay, where the dramatic stormy sky creates a unique Adriatic atmosphere.
In winter, a magical silence greets you at the marina. The botanical garden shows its evergreen structure under the low winter sun. At noon, enjoy the mild warmth in the sheltered Vinogradišće Bay. Afternoon visits the lonely St. Clement's Church, before experiencing the early, spectacular sunset over the deserted islands at Mlini Bay.
This route takes you on a bike (or hike on challenging terrain) deeper into the Pakleni Islands. From the marina, pass the lonely St. Clement church to the western end at Vlaka. Here you discover Roman villa ruins amidst vineyards and olive groves. After culture comes nature at Zdrilca Bay, before returning to Palmižana just in time for the golden hour. A tour for adventurers wanting to see more than just the beach.
Biking in the rain requires caution on the paths starting from the marina. A wet but solid path leads to St. Clement's Church. The ruins in Vlaka look mystical in the fog. We take a break in Zdrilca Bay before heading back to Vinogradišće, where the salty air and rain intensify the experience.
Winter cycling on Palmižana is pure bliss without the crowds. From the marina, head to the lonely St. Clement's Church. In Vlaka, explore Roman ruins in the clear winter light. The ride to Zdrilca Bay is refreshing, and the day ends in Vinogradišće with the low sun and a cool sea breeze.
Since Palmižana is car-free, this route corresponds to a private motorboat tour ('Sea-Car'). Glide to the remote Perna Bay, one of the rare sandy beaches in the region. After a swimming stop, continue to Vlaka to reach the ancient ruins comfortably by water. The afternoon belongs to Vinogradišće Bay, where you can anchor in style. This exclusive route shows you the archipelago without exertion but with maximum comfort.
Since cars are rare on Palmižana, this mode focuses on transfers. In the rain, arriving at the marina is uncomfortable. The trip to Perna Bay shows the rugged side of nature. In Vlaka, the ruins offer a melancholy sight in the rain, and the day ends in Vinogradišće, staying protected indoors.
A winter vehicle trip (transfer) offers comfort in cool temperatures. From the marina, head to the sunny Perna Bay. In Vlaka, admire ancient stones without the summer heat. The day winds down in Vinogradišće, enjoying the island's solitude in the winter sun.
