Lopare is a scenic municipality in the northeastern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, positioned in the rolling hills of the Majevica mountain range. The town serves as the administrative and cultural center for the surrounding Majevica region, known for its pristine nature and pleasant mountain climate. Historically, the town was first mentioned in the 18th century, though archaeological finds indicate much earlier settlement in the area. Economically, Lopare is traditionally dominated by agriculture, particularly fruit growing, with local plum production being famous far beyond the regional borders. Recently, the municipality has attracted international attention due to the discovery of significant lithium and magnesium deposits, offering great potential for future industrial development. The hilly landscape, with its numerous hiking trails and hunting grounds, makes Lopare an attractive destination for nature and active tourists. Despite modern developments, the town preserves its traditional customs and the warm hospitality of the Majevica people. Lopare is also an important transport hub connecting the city of Tuzla with the Bijeljina region.
