- If you want to swim or paddle, look for the designated eco-centers or small beaches near the dam.
- Be aware that the water is cold even in the peak of summer due to the continuous mountain river flow.
- Try visiting early in the morning when the emerald green water perfectly reflects the dramatic cliff walls.

Water temperature…
Lake Bočac was created by the construction of a hydroelectric dam on the Vrbas River between the towns of Mrkonjić Grad and Banja Luka. The lake stretches for several kilometers through one of Bosnia's most spectacular canyons. The water has an intense green color, contrasting with the surrounding gray limestone cliffs. The lake is a popular destination for fishermen who find trout, pike, and carp in its clear waters. Along the shore, there are several picnic spots and small restaurants offering fresh fish. A special attraction nearby is the medieval Bočac Fortress, perched above the lake, which once guarded the route through the Vrbas Valley. The road running alongside the lake is considered one of the most scenic drives in the region. Visitors can also visit the nearby waterfalls of Krupa na Vrbasu, just a short drive away. While Lake Bočac does not have large swimming beaches, it is well-suited for boating and kayaking to enjoy the silence of the canyon. The area is a lesser-known spot for travelers heading from Sarajevo towards Banja Luka looking for scenic views.
