Ivye is a historic town in the Grodno Region of Belarus, widely recognized as the Belarusian Jerusalem due to its centuries-long tradition of multiconfessional harmony. First mentioned in the 14th century, the settlement became a unique meeting point for Muslim Tatars, Jews, Catholics, and Orthodox Christians. Its most iconic landmark is the wooden mosque built in 1882, which remained the only functioning mosque in Belarus throughout the Soviet era. The town center features the monumental Church of St. Peter and Paul, originally constructed in the 15th century in Gothic style and later remodeled in Baroque. A monument to the four religions stands in the main square, symbolizing the mutual respect and diversity that define the local culture. Situated on the Ivianka River, Ivye is also famous for the gardening traditions of its Tatar community, which have been preserved for generations. The town continues to celebrate its multicultural heritage through various festivals and educational initiatives.
