Serra de Ensagents is an imposing mountain range in central Andorra, within the parish of Encamp, with its highest point reaching approximately 2,852 meters. This range is known for its rugged beauty and the Ensagents cirque, a glacial valley containing several small mountain lakes. Geologically, the massif is characterized by massive granite, uplifted from deep within the Earth's crust during the Pyrenean orogeny. The region is a paradise for alpinists seeking tranquility away from the major ski resorts, offering challenging ascents towards Pic de Pessons. In the valley's wetlands, rare alpine plants such as bog cotton and various orchid species can be found. Serra de Ensagents also serves as an important refuge for the western capercaillie and the Pyrenean desman. The view from the ridges encompasses nearly the entire territory of Andorra as well as the peaks of the Spanish Cerdanya region.

Getting there
The journey usually originates from the Cortals d'Encamp road, navigating upwards towards the alpine lake basins. The paths eventually weave onto the prominent mountain ridge overlooking the surrounding valleys.

Most hikers utilize the informal parking pull-outs along the winding CS-220 road in Cortals d'Encamp. These spots are free but limited, making an early arrival beneficial on prime summer weekends.

Navigating the ridge in low visibility can be disorienting, and sudden storms can transform the peaceful lakes into harsh environments. Avoid venturing too close to the steep drop-offs on the ridge edge.
Time needed
A thorough exploration of the lakes combined with a traverse of the main ridge normally requires 5 to 7 hours. The terrain encourages a moderate, steady pace rather than rushing, allowing time for photography.
