The Pas de la Casa Customs Office, located on the border with France, is Andorra's northern gateway and a vital link for international trade. Situated at an altitude of over 2,000 meters, it is one of the highest border crossings in Europe. This post regulates the flow of goods and travelers between the principality and the French region of Occitanie, primarily serving the route to Toulouse. Customs officials here manage the strict quotas on duty-free items such as tobacco, alcohol, and fuel, which are central to the economy of the high-altitude town of Pas de la Casa. The strategic importance of this border is enhanced by the Envalira Tunnel, which ensures year-round access even during heavy snowfall. Economically, this crossing is essential for French tourism and for the logistics of importing European products into the country.
