Valesdir Plantation (Vanuatu)

Weather…

Valesdir Plantation on Epi Island is a historical and economic testament to colonial-era agriculture in Vanuatu. Originally established during the British-French Condominium period, it was for decades a major producer of copra and beef. The extensive grounds stretch along the western coast of Epi, utilizing the island's fertile volcanic soils. Today, the plantation has diversified, blending traditional agriculture with sustainable tourism. In addition to coconut palms, cocoa and kava are now cultivated, while cattle ranching remains a vital source of income for export to Port Vila. The plantation's historic manor house now serves as a guesthouse, offering visitors a glimpse into the colonial past and the modern challenges of island economics. Valesdir also functions as a key logistical point for shipping goods to and from the island of Epi.
