Lower Dniester National Nature Park (Ukraine)

Weather…

The Lower Dniester National Nature Park was established on November 13, 2008, in the Odesa Oblast to protect the unique ecosystems of the Dniester Delta. Spanning approximately 21,311 hectares, it covers areas within the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi and Odesa districts. The region is recognized as a Ramsar wetland of international importance, serving as a critical habitat for numerous migratory waterfowl. Geographically, the park features a complex system of river branches, floodplain forests, reed beds, and lakes that harbor immense biological diversity. Historically, this estuary area has always been a vital hub for trade and fishing between the Black Sea and the Ukrainian interior. Today, the protected area serves both scientific research and ecological tourism, focusing on the conservation of endangered species such as the ferruginous duck and the white-tailed eagle. Maintaining the hydrological balance is of paramount importance for the stability of the entire regional ecosystem.
