Teplodar is a young city in the Odesa Oblast of southern Ukraine, founded in the 1980s as a satellite town for the planned but never completed Odesa Nuclear Power Plant. Although the power plant project was abandoned, Teplodar developed into its own town, featuring a unique Soviet planning aesthetic and wide green spaces. The city is surrounded by steppe landscape and is located near the Baraboi Reservoir, offering some recreational opportunities. Getting there is best via Odesa, which is about 40 km away and has an international airport and train station; from there, one can take a bus or taxi to Teplodar.
