Serhiivka is a major climatic and balneological resort south of Odesa, renowned for its extensive green spaces and therapeutic resources. The town is situated on the banks of the Shabolat Estuary (also known as Budak Estuary), which is separated from the Black Sea by a narrow sandbar. To reach the actual sea beaches, visitors cross a nearly one-kilometer-long bridge over the estuary, providing a scenic walk with views of local birdlife. The resort is famous for its highly mineralized mud and the saline water (brine) of the estuary, which have been used for decades in local sanatoriums to treat joint, nervous system, and skin disorders. Serhiivka is often called the 'green lung' of the region due to its numerous parks and forest belts that create a unique and healthy microclimate. Many sanatoriums here are specialized in children's rehabilitation, making it a key family health destination. The beaches on the seaside are quieter and less crowded than in neighboring Zatoka, offering a peaceful environment for health-conscious travelers. Leisure activities include boating on the estuary and exploring the nearby steppe landscapes. The combination of sea air, the scent of wild herbs, and medicinal resources makes Serhiivka one of the most valuable wellness spots on the Ukrainian Black Sea coast.
