💡 Tips

  • At low tide, you can sometimes wade across the shallow strait to Dzharylhach Island, but beware of the strong currents.
  • The water here earns its 'azure' name and is notably clearer than in the enclosed bays.
  • Bring your own shade and sunscreen if crossing to the island, as natural shelter is non-existent.
  • Carry small cash; many beachside vendors and kiosk operators do not accept cards.

Lazurne owes its name to the striking azure color of the sea along this stretch of the Black Sea coast. The resort is situated directly across from Dzharylhach Island, separated only by a narrow strait. During low tide, it is sometimes possible to wade through the water almost all the way to the island. The beach is wide and sandy, offering access to the clean, open sea rather than a bay. The atmosphere in Lazurne is bustling, with many cafes and entertainment venues along the waterfront. Boat trips to the wild beaches of the island are particularly popular, as dolphins are frequently spotted nearby. The region is also famous for its melons and watermelons, sold fresh everywhere during summer. Lazurne is reachable by bus from Kherson in about two hours. The best time to visit is from mid-June to August.
