Yalta is located on the southern coast of the Crimean Peninsula and is globally recognized as the site of the historic 1945 Yalta Conference, where Roosevelt, Churchill, and Stalin shaped the post-WWII world order. Geographically set in a natural mountain amphitheater, the city enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate, which established it as the preferred resort for the Russian Imperial family in the 19th century. The Livadia Palace, once the Romanovs' summer residence, remains a testament to this imperial grandeur. Beyond its political legacy, Yalta is famous for its seaside promenade, the 'Naberezhnaya,' lined with palm trees and prestigious hotels. Another nearby landmark is the Swallow's Nest castle, spectacularly perched on an Aurora Cliff overlooking the Black Sea. The city acts as a gateway to the Massandra vineyards, celebrated for their world-class dessert wines, and the Ai-Petri mountain, which is reachable by one of the longest cable cars in the region.
