Baden, located in the canton of Aargau, is a city with a fascinating dual identity as a traditional spa resort and a modern industrial location. The Romans already appreciated the healing power of the thermal springs and called the place Aquae Helveticae. The thermal springs of Baden provide the most mineral rich water in Switzerland with a temperature of up to 47 degrees Celsius. The photogenic old town with its narrow streets and the striking city tower invites visitors to linger, while the Stein ruins high above the city offer a wide view. Economically, Baden achieved world fame through the founding of Brown, Boveri and Cie (now ABB) in 1891, which made the city a center of the electrical industry. Today, in addition to ABB, General Electric and many specialized service providers are also based here. Culturally, Baden has a lot to offer with the Grand Casino, the Kurtheater, and numerous museums such as the Langmatt Foundation. Its location in the Limmat valley makes Baden an important hub between Zurich and Basel. The city uniquely combines industrial innovation with relaxing wellness culture and historic charm.
