Koli is located in the coastal plains of Guadalcanal, east of Honiara International Airport, representing a site deeply intertwined with the history of World War II. During the Guadalcanal Campaign in late 1942, Koli Point was the scene of fierce engagements between advancing US Marines and Japanese defenders. Following the securing of the area, Allied forces developed Koli into a massive logistical and air support base, which was pivotal for the subsequent stages of the Pacific theater. Today, Koli has reverted to a rural landscape characterized by vast coconut plantations and small-scale farming communities. The region's flat topography facilitated intensive agricultural use in the post-war era, particularly for copra production. Despite its current peaceful atmosphere, rusted war relics found in the scrub and along the shore serve as lasting reminders of the area's violent past.
