Vintgar Gorge is located just 4 kilometers northwest of Bled and is one of Slovenia's most iconic natural sights. Discovered in 1891 and opened to the public in 1893, the 1.6 km trail leads visitors over wooden galleries and bridges directly above the turquoise Radovna River. The gorge is filled with pools, rapids, and steep rock walls, ending at the 13-meter high Šum Waterfall, the highest river fall in the country. The walk is relatively easy and takes about an hour, providing a refreshing microclimate even during the peak of summer.
