The Whirlpool plant in Poprad, picturesquely situated at the foot of the majestic High Tatras, is one of the most important and productive European manufacturing sites for major household appliances. The modern history of the plant began with a strategic joint venture with the historic local manufacturer Tatramat, before Whirlpool fully acquired and comprehensively modernized the facility. Today, Poprad serves as the European center of excellence for the production of Whirlpool brand top-loading and front-loading washing machines. With thousands of employees, the plant is by far the largest and most stable employer in the entire Tatra region.
