Quincy Village is a lively suburb north of Victoria's city center within the Anse Etoile district. The neighborhood was built in the 1970s and 80s as a planned settlement to absorb the growing housing demand of the capital. Today Quincy Village consists of a mix of two-storey row houses and smaller apartment blocks with characteristically Creole-modern facades. At its center lies a local market where fresh fish, tropical fruits and vegetables, and small handicrafts are sold daily. Several bus stops quickly connect Quincy Village with Victoria, the airport, and Beau Vallon. Also characteristic is the abundance of small community spaces and sports grounds where children and youth play football in the evenings. The district has a primary school, a secondary school, and a small clinic. Its religious center is the Catholic chapel, well known for its Creole-language Sunday masses, which reinforces the community spirit of residents.
