Castle Peak is a distinctive mountain peak located in the eastern part of Mahé island, named for the castle-like appearance of its granite ridges. Rising to approximately 500 meters, it dominates the landscape above the Au Cap and Anse aux Pins districts. Geologically, Castle Peak is a classic example of Seychelles' granite formations, with steep rock faces and massive boulders defining its silhouette. The vegetation on the slopes is dense, consisting of a mix of original rainforest and secondary vegetation that returned after agricultural use ceased. Historically, the area around Castle Peak served as a sanctuary for runaway slaves during the 18th and 19th centuries.
