Al Mubarraz is a city in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, in the Al-Ahsa oasis. Historically, Al Mubarraz functioned as the northern gate of the region, and due to its close connection with the city of Hofuf, it has practically merged with it, forming a large metropolitan area. The city's name comes from the Arabic word 'baraza', meaning 'to appear' or 'to be outside', referring to the place where tribal leaders met. Al Mubarraz has retained some of its traditional character, with old buildings and mosques, but modern development is also significant. The city has numerous markets (souqs), shops, and restaurants. Its economy, like that of the entire Al-Ahsa region, is based on agriculture, especially date cultivation, as well as trade and small industries. As part of the Al-Ahsa oasis, the city enjoys abundant water sources and fertile soil, which allows for a thriving agriculture. The urban population enjoys the comforts of modern city life while maintaining a close connection to the region's rich historical and cultural heritage.
