💡 Tips

  • The city is divided into Jubail City (the older town) and Jubail Industrial City (modern and highly organized).
  • Visit the Al Fanateer Corniche in the late afternoon or evening when temperatures are more comfortable.
  • Be aware that many industrial zones have strict no-photography and restricted-access policies.
  • Use ride-hailing apps like Uber or Careem, as hailing a traditional taxi on the street can be difficult.

Al-Jubail is a city in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, on the coast of the Persian Gulf. What was once a quiet fishing village was transformed in the late 20th century into one of the largest industrial cities in the world. As part of a large-scale project launched in 1975, the city was divided into two: the original Jubail Al-Balad (Old Town) and the modern Industrial City (Jubail Industrial City). The latter is the world's largest industrial complex, hosting massive petrochemical plants, refineries, and steel mills. The city is overseen by the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, which is known for its careful urban planning and high-quality infrastructure. Despite its industrial nature, Jubail places a strong emphasis on environmental protection and the quality of life of its residents, with extensive parks, beaches, and recreational facilities. Fanateer Beach and Deffi Park are popular spots for locals and expatriates. Jubail is also the headquarters of the world's fourth-largest petrochemical company, SABIC (Saudi Basic Industries Corporation).
