Arabian Gulf Coast (Saudi Arabia)

Weather…

The Arabian Gulf Coast in eastern Saudi Arabia extends from the border with Kuwait to the United Arab Emirates. Unlike the rugged west coast, this region is flat, characterized by shallow waters, and is of immense importance to the global energy industry. It is home to the world's largest oil and gas fields, including the Ghawar field. The coast hosts major industrial centers like Al-Jubail, the world's largest industrial city, and Dammam, a significant commercial hub. Ecologically, the region is marked by sabkhas (salt flats), mangrove forests, and seagrass meadows, which provide important habitats for migratory birds and sea turtles. Historically, the coast was known for pearl diving before the discovery of oil in 1938 fundamentally transformed the economy. The shallow relief makes the water susceptible to temperature fluctuations and high salinity. The development of modern infrastructure and artificial islands has significantly altered the appearance of the coastline in recent decades.
