Al-Khobar is a modern, cosmopolitan city in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, on the coast of the Persian Gulf. The city is located in the southern part of the Dammam metropolitan area and is closely connected to Dammam and Dhahran. In the 1930s, it was still a small fishing village, but after the discovery of oil, it began to develop rapidly and is now one of the most important commercial, financial, and entertainment centers in the region. Al-Khobar is famous for its modern shopping malls, luxury restaurants, and cafes. The city's skyline is defined by modern high-rises and the beautifully maintained Corniche (seaside promenade), which is popular with walkers, joggers, and families. It is home to the King Fahd Causeway, a 25-kilometer-long bridge and causeway system that connects Saudi Arabia to Bahrain, further strengthening Khobar's role as a regional trade hub. The city has a significant expatriate community, which contributes to its open and international atmosphere. Al-Khobar does not have an industrial port like Dammam, but focuses more on trade and services.
