The Church of Our Lady of the Rosary (Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Rosário) in Santo António is the oldest and most significant religious structure on Príncipe Island. The current church stands on foundations dating back to the 16th-century colonial era, though the existing building was extensively renovated in the 19th century. Its architecture is characterized by a simple Portuguese Baroque style, featuring a whitewashed facade with blue accents. Inside, the church houses valuable sacred art and serves as the primary place of worship for the island's predominantly Catholic population. It is not only a site for prayer but also a historical testament to the missionary efforts in West Africa. Geographically, it is situated on an elevated site in the town center, its bell tower being a prominent feature of the Santo António skyline. Large annual processions take place here, reflecting the deep religious roots of the people of Príncipe.
