Bweyeye is a sector in the Rusizi district in the far southwest of Rwanda, on the border with Burundi and the Nyungwe National Park. It is one of the most remote and sparsely populated regions of the country. The landscape is characterized by the dense forests of Nyungwe Park and steep hills. The population lives mainly from subsistence farming. Due to its remoteness and difficult terrain, infrastructure is underdeveloped, and connection to the rest of the country is difficult. Bweyeye is known for its pristine nature and rich biodiversity, which it shares with Nyungwe National Park. The government is making efforts to improve living conditions and better integrate the region, but it remains one of the least developed areas of Rwanda.
