Pskov Krom (Russia)

Weather…

The Pskov Kremlin, also known as the Krom, is one of the oldest and most impressive medieval fortresses in Russia. Situated on a high promontory at the confluence of the Pskova and Velikaya rivers, this massive stone bastion stood for centuries as the impenetrable bulwark of the Pskov Republic against invasions from the West. The spiritual heart of the fortress is the majestic Trinity Cathedral, whose white and golden domes rise high above the massive defensive walls. Within the walls lay not only churches but also the historical veche, the democratic popular assembly of medieval Pskov, as well as large granaries essential for sustaining the city during sieges. The surviving defensive towers, particularly the robust Vlasyevskaya Tower, stand as a testament to the remarkable military engineering of the 14th and 15th centuries that made Pskov one of the most fortified cities in Eastern Europe.
