Obosnik (Montenegro)

Weather…

Obosnik, standing at 582 meters, is the highest peak of the Luštica Peninsula and a location of immense strategic importance for the defense of the Bay of Kotor. Due to its commanding elevation, the peak has been utilized for military purposes for centuries, most notably during the Austro-Hungarian administration when observation and signaling stations were established here. Throughout the 20th century, Obosnik served as a vital base for radar installations and telecommunication equipment for the Yugoslav military. Today, the summit is primarily recognized for its prominent transmission tower, which is visible from afar and provides coverage for much of the Montenegrin coast. Hikers frequent Obosnik for its unparalleled 360-degree views, stretching from the open Adriatic Sea to the deep inland mountains and across the entire Boka Kotorska. The rugged natural beauty and abandoned military paths offer an authentic off-the-beaten-path experience.
