Lipa Cave
Lipa Cave (Lipska pećina) is the first cave in Montenegro to be opened for tourist visits, located near the historic capital of Cetinje. This vast underground system features approximately 2.5 kilometers of explored passages and halls, shaped over millions of years by the creative force of water on karst rock. Known since the 19th century, the cave was once visited and described by the famous Montenegrin ruler-poet Njegoš. Visitors can choose from different tour options, ranging from the standard Cave Tour on well-maintained paths to the more intense Adventure Tour for those looking for a deeper exploration. Inside, the temperature stays consistently between 8°C and 12°C year-round, making it a great escape from the summer heat. The cave is filled with intricate stalactites, stalagmites, and stone pillars, all beautifully enhanced by professional lighting that highlights the natural colors of the stone. A small tourist train transports guests from the parking area to the cave entrance, adding to the charm of the experience. The modern visitor center provides all necessary information and amenities. It is highly recommended to wear a jacket and sturdy shoes, as the environment is cool and damp. Lipa Cave is easily accessible by car and is a great stop for families and nature enthusiasts traveling between Podgorica and the coast.
