Šeduva Church (Lithuania)

Weather…

The Church of the Discovery of the Holy Cross in Šeduva is a prime example of the transition from Renaissance to Baroque architecture in Lithuania. Construction of the current stone building took place between 1640 and 1649, supported by donations from the local nobility. The church features a cruciform floor plan and a distinctive facade with voluted gables, typical of mid-17th-century Lithuanian masonry. Inside, the church is renowned for its elaborate Baroque furnishings, including five ornate altars and a finely carved pulpit. Throughout its history, the building has endured several fires and wars but has always been meticulously restored to maintain its architectural grandeur. As the spiritual heart of Šeduva, the church houses many significant religious paintings and relics. Its harmonious blend of styles and artistic wealth makes it one of the most valuable ecclesiastical monuments in the Radviliškis region.
