Vakil Bazaar (Iran)

Weather…

The Vakil Bazaar is the historical commercial center of Shiraz, commissioned in the 18th century by Karim Khan Zand, the founder of the Zand dynasty. The architecture is characterized by high, vaulted brick ceilings that provide natural cooling in summer and warmth in winter. The bazaar is designed in a cross shape (Chahar Suq) and houses numerous passages where traditional Persian carpets, spices, handicrafts, and textiles are traded. In addition to commercial spaces, the complex includes caravanserais, traditional bathhouses, and the Vakil Mosque. The brickwork and intricate tile patterns are excellently preserved and bear witness to the city's economic golden age under Zand rule. Even today, the Vakil Bazaar remains a spirited place and an indispensable part of economic and cultural life in Shiraz.
