Biatorbágy is a strategically located town in Pest County, situated at the junction of the Buda Hills and the Zsámbék Basin. The town was officially established in 1966 through the merger of two historic villages, Bia and Torbágy, both of which possess archaeological remains dating back to the Bronze and Roman ages. Its most iconic structure is the twin railway viaduct, completed in 1898, which towers over the town center at a height of 26 meters. The bridge gained international notoriety in September 1931 due to the train bombing orchestrated by Szilveszter Matuska, an event that remains one of the most famous criminal cases in Hungarian history. Nowadays, the viaduct serves as a scenic promenade for pedestrians. The town's natural environment is defined by the Füzes stream and the limestone cliffs of Nyakas-kő, providing excellent opportunities for hiking. Biatorbágy balance its role as a modern industrial and logistics hub with its historical preservation, including the neoclassical Szily Mansion and the traditional wine cellars of the Bia district, which celebrate the region's long-standing viticultural heritage.
