Mid-Pripyat Landscape Reserve (Belarus)

Weather…

The Mid-Pripyat Landscape Reserve is an exceptional wetland ecosystem in the heart of Polesie, representing one of the best-preserved floodplains on the European continent. Along a 120-kilometer unregulated stretch of the Pripyat River lies a highly dynamic landscape of meandering oxbow lakes, backwaters, seasonally flooded riparian forests, and wet meadows. These annual spring floods profoundly shape the ecosystem, creating well-suited spawning grounds for dozens of fish species and an abundant food supply for hundreds of thousands of migratory birds. The reserve is a central sanctuary for a remarkably diverse fauna, including dense populations of Eurasian otters, beavers, and numerous specialized bird species such as the White-tailed Eagle and the Corncrake, which breed in the inaccessible riparian vegetation.
