Granit Mikashevichi (Belarus)

Weather…

The state-owned mining enterprise "Granit" in Mikashevichi operates the largest and most awe-inspiring open-pit granite quarry on the entire European continent. The excavation site forms a gigantic artificial valley spanning an immense area, with its distinctively terraced walls plunging deep into the earth. Millions of tons of massive Precambrian granite rock are extracted here annually, utilizing enormous controlled explosions and a fleet of colossal BelAZ dump trucks. The extracted stone is then processed in adjacent facilities to produce high-quality crushed stone and manufactured sand, which are absolutely essential for modern highway construction, concrete manufacturing, and the laying of railway track ballast. Granit not only exports substantial volumes to Russia and the Baltic states but also supplies the foundational building materials for virtually every major infrastructure project undertaken within Belarus.
