Berezovskaya Power Station (Belarus)

Weather…

The Berezovskaya GRES, located in the city of Beloozyorsk, which was purposefully built to house the power station's workforce, serves as the undisputed energy epicenter of western Belarus. Commissioned in 1961, this monumental thermal power plant has continuously played a vital role in providing industrial and residential electricity to the densely populated Brest region. Within its sprawling facilities, enormous volumes of fossil fuels, primarily natural gas supplemented by fuel oil, are combusted to propel gigantic steam turbines. In the recent past, the power plant has undergone profound modernization and efficiency enhancement programs, replacing obsolete units with state-of-the-art, low-emission technology. Ingeniously, the warm cooling water discharged from the plant is fully utilized to supply an extensive network of local fish farms and commercial greenhouses, thereby providing a significant secondary boost to the local economy surrounding Beloozyorsk.
