Naftalan

Naftalan is a globally unique health resort destination in western Azerbaijan, renowned since ancient times for its healing petroleum. Unlike industrial oil, Naftalan oil is heavy, rich in naphthenic hydrocarbons, and used exclusively for medical treatments. Visitors flock to modern sanatoriums to bathe in this warm, thick liquid, which is clinically believed to alleviate over 70 different skin, joint, and neurological conditions. Besides the specialized health centers, the town gives a tranquil environment with pine parks and dedicated relaxation zones. The local Museum of Crutches displays walking aids left behind by healed patients, serving as a testament to the oil's efficacy.
