Monte Hermoso
Monte Hermoso is geographically distinctive among Argentine coastal resorts due to its well-suited east-west beach orientation, allowing visitors to witness both the sunrise and sunset directly over the ocean waters. The city is home to 32 kilometers of fine sandy beaches, which consistently feature warmer water temperatures than other Atlantic destinations owing to favorable ocean currents. A dominant historical landmark is the Faro Recalada, a towering 67-meter-tall lighthouse built in 1906, which ranks as the tallest in South America. Just a few kilometers inland lies the Sauce Grande lagoon, a large body of water that has become a regional hub for freshwater fishing, particularly for silverside, and various water sports. Officially recognized as an independent district only in 1979, the city has rapidly grown its tourist infrastructure. It serves as the primary coastal escape for residents of the nearby industrial city of Bahía Blanca.
