Shishtavec is an easy on the eye mountain village in the remote northeast of Albania, located in the Kukës region near the border with Kosovo. It is the heartland of the Gorani community, who preserve a unique Slavic language and distinct cultural traditions. Situated at an altitude of over 1300 meters, Shishtavec is nationally famous for its premium potato production and its historic role as a center for winter sports, producing some of Albania's earliest competitive skiers. The landscape is dominated by sweeping alpine meadows and the jagged peaks of the Sharr Mountains, making it a prime destination for trekkers.
