Lake Lusiwashi is a small freshwater lake in northeastern Zambia, situated in the Luapula Province. It covers an area of about 15 km² and reaches a maximum depth of 5 meters. The lake is fed by the Lusiwashi River and drains into the Luapula River system. It supports a diverse fish population, including several cichlid species, and is a crucial resource for local fishing communities. The surrounding area is characterized by Miombo woodlands and is home to various wildlife species. The lake is an Important Bird Area, with numerous waterfowl and migratory birds. Threats include overfishing and siltation from agricultural runoff. The region's economy relies heavily on subsistence agriculture and fishing.
