Kundalila Falls (Zambia)

Weather…

Kundalila Falls is located in the Central Province of Zambia, on the edge of the Muchinga Escarpment. The name means 'crying dove' in the local language, alluding to the soft roar of the water. The Kaombe River plunges about 70 meters deep over a rocky cliff into a crystal-clear basin here. The site is known for its natural tranquility and the spectacular view from the top of the falls across the Luangwa Valley. Visitors can descend the steep path to the foot of the falls, where it is possible to swim in the natural rock pools. The surroundings are rich in botanical treasures; rare wild orchids and other exotic flowers bloom here during the rainy season. The rock formations around the falls are geologically interesting and offer numerous photographic opportunities. Since the site is often less visited than other attractions, it gives a very private nature experience. The falls are located not far from the town of Serenje and are accessible via a short gravel track from the main road. There are basic camping facilities and barbecue areas for visitors. In Serenje, you can stock up on supplies and try local Zambian specialties. The best time for a visit is from May to August, when the weather is pleasantly cool and the falls still carry enough water after the rainy season.
