Cinaruco-Capanaparo National Park (Venezuela)

Weather…

The Cinaruco-Capanaparo National Park, also known as Santos Luzardo National Park, was established on February 24, 1988, and covers a vast area of 584,368 hectares in Apure State. Located between the Capanaparo and Cinaruco rivers, it protects a broad expanse of the Venezuelan Llanos. The landscape is characterized by wide savannas, gallery forests along the riverbanks, and the unique wandering sand dunes of Capanaparo, which provide a fascinating contrast to the otherwise flat plains. The park is home to exceptional wildlife, including Orinoco crocodiles, Arrau turtles, jaguars, and a vast variety of migratory birds. Culturally, the area is closely linked to the 'Llanero' traditions and is home to indigenous communities of the Pumé people. This region plays a critical role in the ecological structure of the Orinoco basin and serves as an important refuge for endangered species. Tourism focuses on nature observation and exploring the spectacular river and dune landscapes.
