Poltava Round Square (Ukraine)

Weather…

The Round Square in Poltava is an outstanding example of Neoclassical urban planning and serves as the architectural heart of the city. The ensemble was constructed between 1805 and 1811 based on designs by architect Adrian Zakharov and overseen by Mikhail Amvrosimov. The circular plaza has a diameter of approximately 375 meters and is enclosed by eight monumental administrative buildings designed in a unified classical style. At the center of the square stands the Monument of Glory, a cast-iron column unveiled in 1811 to commemorate the centennial of the Battle of Poltava. The interior of the circle is occupied by Korpusnyi Park, which provides a lush green space that emphasizes the geometric precision of the surrounding architecture. This urban masterpiece is recognized as one of the best-preserved examples of early 19th-century Classical ensembles in Eastern Europe.
