Dragobrat is Ukraine’s highest mountain resort, perched at an altitude of 1,400 to 1,700 meters in the Svydovets mountain range. It is unique for its microclimate that ensures natural snow cover from November often until May, making it the most reliable ski spot in the country. The resort's charm lies in its remoteness; there are no paved roads leading to the top. Visitors must leave their cars in the village of Yasinya and take a bumpy 45-minute ride in specialized 4x4 trucks or old Soviet off-road vehicles to reach the hotels. The terrain is a dream for advanced skiers and freeriders, as the slopes are located above the tree line, offering wide-open fields of powder. Lifts go up towards Mount Stih and the twin peaks of Bliznytsya, providing sweeping views of the Chornohora range. In the summer, the area transforms into a spectacular hiking destination known for its glacial lakes, such as Lake Ivor, and the rolling green ridges of the Svydovets. It is a place where you can find true solitude and pristine alpine nature. Accommodations consist of cozy wooden chalets and family-run hotels with a strong community feel. Evening life centers around warm hearths and hearty Ukrainian meals like borsch and pelmeni. Reaching Dragobrat requires some logistical effort, including a train to Yasinya followed by the 4x4 transfer, but the reward is a high-altitude escape with some of the best snow and scenery in the entire Carpathian arc.
