Vorokhta is a high-altitude mountain resort in the Ukrainian Carpathians (approx. 850 m), renowned for its clean air and architectural treasures. The most spectacular structures are the stone railway viaducts from the Austro-Hungarian era (late 19th century), one of which is among the longest stone arch bridges in Europe. No longer in use for trains, it serves as a popular photography spot for tourists. Another highlight is the wooden Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin from the 17th century, a masterpiece of Hutsul folk architecture built without a single metal nail. Vorokhta is also a key center for ski jumping in Ukraine, featuring several training ramps. In local cafes, one can enjoy Carpathian herbal teas and local cheese specialties. The village is a major starting point for climbing Mount Hoverla, Ukraine's highest peak. It is accessible by direct train from Lviv or Kyiv. The best time to visit is winter for skiing or early autumn for hiking.
