Mukono is located approximately 27 kilometers east of the capital Kampala in central Uganda and has emerged as one of the country's fastest-growing industrial and educational hubs. The city benefits from its strategic location along the highway connecting Kampala to the Kenyan border, which has led to significant investments in manufacturing and logistics. Historically, the area is deeply connected to the Buganda Kingdom, with the nearby Ssezibwa Falls serving as an important cultural and spiritual site for the Baganda people. Mukono is home to Uganda Christian University (UCU), established in 1997 on the grounds of the former Bishop Tucker Theological College. Situated on the equatorial plateau, the surrounding environment features fertile soils that support the production of coffee, bananas, and sugarcane. Over the past few decades, Mukono has transitioned from a small trading post into a densely populated urban center.
