The Baha'i House of Worship in Kampala, Uganda, known as the Mother Temple of Africa, is a significant architectural and spiritual landmark. Situated on Kikaaya Hill, one of Kampala's seven hills, it has panoramic views of the city and Lake Victoria. The cornerstone was laid in 1958, and the temple was dedicated on January 13, 1961. Designed by Charles Mason Remey, its architecture features a large, peak-like dome made of laced white mosaic tiles, rising over 37 meters high. The nine-sided, circular structure symbolizes the unity of religion, a central tenet of the Baha'i Faith. Its walls are built from precast concrete panels, incorporating blue and green stained-glass windows that allow light to filter in. Surrounded by expansive gardens showcasing diverse flora, the temple is a place for prayer and meditation open to people of all faiths, attracting thousands of visitors annually.
